Well, if you love using the internet and apps, I think I’ve got the perfect side-hustle for you. You’re basically going to get paid for giving your opinion of websites, content, and design, as well as prototypes and products.

You would need a computer or laptop (in some cases a phone, iPad or Tablet), broadband internet connection, an ability to speak out your thoughts in English and be at least 18 years old. Aha! I’m pretty sure I have your attention now. Well, keep reading to see a list of companies that are hiring testers at the moment.

User Testing

All you need to do is enter your email address and take a sample test. Once you get approved, you can start testing. Testing is open worldwide to countries that can receive payments via Paypal. Payment is received exactly 7 days after your test is submitted. User testing pays an average of $10/$15 dollars for about 20 mins of work.

Userlytics

Once your test is approved, earn between $5 – $20 for tests that take between 20 – 40 minutes. Some projects pay as much as $90. I have personally earned up to $120 for just one test on Userlytics. They do not require you to do a sample test, and you just have to be at least 16 years old to do a test. Payments for approved tests are made once every 15 days. Testing is also open globally as long as your country can receive payment via Paypal.

Intellizoom

Intellizoom pays you to share your opinion with people who make different products. You are invited to take tests based on your demographic information. You’d also need to take a sample test before you can start testing. In order to participate, you must be 18 years or older, willing to have your face and voice recorded, and able to follow directions and think out loud. Intellizoom is only open to participants who live in the US, UK, Spain, and Germany. Payment for completed tests is made via Paypal within 21 business days after completion.

uTest

With uTest, testers get paid to check for bugs on apps, operating systems and much more. It is also open to testers globally. Testers also get rated based on their completion of courses and modules on the uTester academy. The highly-rated you are, the higher your chances of being selected for tests. Payments are made twice a month via Paypal or Payoneer.

User Interviews

User Interviews is a personal favorite. The signup process is super easy. All you have to do is fill out your profile and find projects you are interested in. Screener surveys are completed to see if you qualify. If you qualify for any of the projects, you sign up for a session and you’re good to go. Most times you get paid in the form of Amazon gift cards or other gift cards as provided by the client.

Test.io

With Test.io, you can earn up to $50 for finding bugs, testing apps, websites, and games. You receive more invitations based on your interests, skills, and devices you own. You are required to pass a quiz to receive invitations for the onboarding tests which covers the basics of their testing procedures. Payment is made once a month through once per month using PayPal, Payoneer, Skrill, or bank transfer.

Testing Time

Products are tested on-site or via Skype with the customer. It pays up to €50 per hour. Signing up takes less than 3 minutes and your profile is used for matching purposes. Once your profile fits a test project, you will receive an email invitation for you to answer some questions and pick times that fit with your schedule. Payment is usually made within 10 days. Sign up here to become a tester.

Testbirds

All you need to do is register as a tester on the Testbird platform, fill out your profile, set up at least one device to test with, and complete the entry test which will help you familiarise yourself with the platform and testing standards. Once this approved, you will be ready to take part in paid tests for real clients and products. You will also receive a €5 “bonus” payment for completing the Entry Test, which will be redeemable once you have earned a minimum of €10. Payment is made via Paypal, Payoneer or bank transfer.

TryMyUI

TryMyUI pays $10 for each test you take which typically lasts approximately 20 minutes. Payment is also made every Friday, through Paypal for every approved test. The usability tests usually consist of video featuring your screen and voice as you use a website or app, or your written responses to a short wrap-up survey.

Usercrowd

You earn money on Usercrowd by giving design feedback. It pays $0.10 per credit earned and most tests pay 1- 2 credits per response. You must have 100 credits/$10 before payment can be requested via Paypal.

Userbrain

You earn $3 via Paypal for every 5 – 10-minute test video that is approved. All you need to do is Sign up, speak your thoughts while going through a set of tasks. After you apply, you’ll be asked to record an example test. You’ll be given a tour and a guide first so you know exactly how everything works.

Userfeel

Userfeel pays $10 for tests that last between 10 – 20 minutes. These tests can be completed with your computer or smartphone. You basically imagine a given scenario and perform certain tasks, like finding a product in an online store and going through the checkout process. This helps site owners find and fix usability issues. You may be asked to answer screener questions to determine your suitability for the test and a qualification test is also required before you can start testing. Payment is received after test approval, usually about one week after the test, via PayPal or Amazon Gift Cards.

Userinput.io

Userinput.io pays between $5 – $15 per test depending on the type of review. You will need a desktop/laptop to review sites, as you’ll be recording your screen, along with your voice. Videos range from 5 to 15 minutes. To sign up, you need to fill an application form and they get back to you when they need testers.

Ubertesters

With Ubertesters, you need some previous experience in QA and a smartphone or tablet. You get to earn money while testing pre-released amazing mobile apps and exciting games from the leading mobile developers around the world. The sign-up process involves filling a signup form, after which a manager will contact you to complete the certification process.

Honestly, I love being a tester and I’ve made quite a bit from testing websites and prototypes. Please, note that you cannot make a full-time income from this. It is basically extra cash for you to do other things. It is advisable you sign up with a lot of them as projects get filled up quickly. It is also fun to do, and you get to have a say on apps or websites that people use on a daily basis. So people, there you have it. Go ye into the world and start testing!!!

Please share your experiences with me if you have ever tested with any of these companies, and also if I missed out on any.
